Rotisserie Chickens Roost at The Hills.

You asked, and now it's here. We're proud to introduce our brand new Rotisserie Chicken program. We take whole Gerber Amish Country Roasters from Kidron, Ohio and season them with one of three house-made dry rubs before roasting them for 45 minutes in our brand new rotisserie oven. Choose from our House Seasoning (with toasted fennel and cumin), Garlic & Herb (pictured above) and Chipotle BBQ (smoky, sweet and spicy).

Available hot every day from 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., and cold in our Chef's Case, our rotisserie chickens come in three sizes.

Whole Bird: $9.99
Half Bird: $5.99
Meal (A quarter chicken with two sides): $8.99

Team Members: Cashiers, Baggers, Grocery Stockers, Managers
Chosen Charity: St. Jude Children's Research Hospital

Service Strengths: Hate to wait in line? Team Baggers with Swagger understands. This is the team that makes sure that your check out experience at The Hills Market goes smoothly and quickly. They carry your groceries — and mulch, and Christmas trees — to the car, no matter the weather. They answer the phones, take your reservations and take care of the ubiquitous "clean up in aisle three." Many members of this team have been at The Hills Market for the better part of a decade, which means that not only do they know you, but they know your family, pets and produce preferences. In short, this team is comprised of the first and last smiling faces you see at The Hills Market.

Above and Beyond: Team Baggers with Swagger handles our special orders and all of our front of house service issues. They're the ones that get that bring in that barbeque sauce you've been looking for and can't find anywhere.

On St. Judes: One of the longtime members of Team Baggers with Swagger is a childhood cancer survivor. In honor of this fellow team member, our front of house staff chose St. Judes Children's Research Hospital.

A Note on our Team Logos: Last week, we were graced for a day by one Zoe Baumgartner-Brown. A creative soul from Columbus Alternative High School, she spent a morning and afternoon in the throes of all the behind-the-scenes work at The Hills Market as part of a shadowing program. It just so happened that Zoe's visit coincided with the details of our Market Madness Service Showdown competition on Facebook. It took only seconds to realize that her skills as an illustrator far surpass any of those in the world of our (one person) in-house marketing department. As we post our Team Profiles, take a moment to celebrate Zoe and her work; she helped to create all eight team logos for Market Madness. We can't wait to see where she lands. Here's hoping it's Central Ohio; we'll all be enriched by her creativity and wit.

Market Madness Service Showdown.

This March, Eight Hills Market teams are in the running for the best service in the store and they're competing for a worthy prize:$250 to donate to their chosen charity. We want you to pull out your brackets and join in the fun of determining which teams provide the service that makes our store like no other. Your votes determine the winner.

How to Vote:

1. "Like" us on Facebook.

2. Choose your favorite team in our poll. (Worth one point.)

3. Write on our Facebook wall to tell us why you chose your team. (Worth two points each.)

Does our Front of House Staff (Baggers with Swagger) get you out the door faster than any other grocery in Columbus? Do the folks in the Wine Department (Team Spirits) excel in getting you special orders? Do the guys in our Butcher Shop and Seafood Department (Poseidon Approved) offer recipes with your meat and seafood orders? Let us know.

We'll tally the results on April 2nd and let you know which team - and which charity - wins in our inaugural Market Madness Service Showdown.

We've Got a Whole Lotta Ricotta.

We've got a whole lotta ricotta love these days. People won't stop talking about how awesome our new Hills Own Fresh Ricotta is. And we have to agree; our fresh ricotta, made in house with Ohio milk is the best we've tasted. Wrapped in cheesecloth and stored in its own whey, our small batch ricotta is preservative-free. Look for it in our Specialty Cheese section, as well as in our Dairy Department. Use it in lasagna or pair it with Ohio honey or fresh fruit for breakfast. Once you try our ricotta, you won't go back.

Makin' Bacon.

Stop what you're doing and get to the Hills Market Butcher Shop. Our Butcher Shop has created the best bacon we've ever had:Hills Own Ohio Bacon. Made with Ohio pork belly and cured, smoked and cut in house, this bacon is available in two varieties: Traditional and Maple. Cured for seven days and available in thick cuts, our bacon has no end of uses. Try it alone, on a sandwich, for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Chances are, you'll fall in love.

New, From Powell.

We love selling locally made products, especially when there's a good story behind them. A family trip to Georgia introduced Shannon of Terra Escentials to her Great Aunt Betty's home remedy for mosquito repellant. After some experimentation with essential oils, a new line of hand and body creams was born. Made just up the road in Powell, Ohio, Terra Escentials paraben-free hand and body creams instantly deliver moisture without leaving a greasy feel. We're happy to carry the entire line of creams with scents such as Orange Ginger, Lavender, Rice Flower Shea and Red Currant Thyme.

Our New Crush...

We kind of have a crush on our new bread line from Dan the Baker. This Columbus-born bakery (whose wares are found at Alana's and Mouton) specializes in european style breads and pastries. Using old world techniques, Dan the Baker employs only sourdough cultures to raise the breads, imparting a unique and delicious character to every loaf.

All grains, seeds and nuts used in production of these breads are organic, and, like The Hills Market, they focus on using a variety of local and seasonal produce and specialty foods. Products are hand-crafted to the highest quality specifications, always.

Look for these amazing breads in our Bakery and stop by Ohio Market Day on Saturday, March 10th for a free taste!
