Thanksgiving Wine Selections.

Domaine Rochette Beaujolais Nouveau 2012, France, $13.99

Our favorite from this years crop of Beaujolais, this is drier than most with a lovely fruit finish to balance. Sure to please white and red drinkers alike.
Monchhof Riesling 2010, Mosel, Germany, $15.99

Don't write off Riesling as a Turkey Wine. Even if this light German wine isn't your usual favorite, Riesling is one of the most food friendly wines out there.

Foxglove Chardonnay 2010, $16.99, California

This light and fruity unoaked Chardonnay is a dream with food. It has the creamy mouthfeel of Chardonnay but without the oak, the true beauty of the fruit can shine through.
Simonnet-Febvre Cremant de Bourgogne Blanc, France, $19.99

This is a wonderfully well-balanced wine, with fine bubbles, a persistent foam and a well-developed length on the palate. Fresh and powerful bouquet with beautiful ripe yellow fruit aromas. This Cremant combines the finesse of Chardonnay and the power of Pinot Noir
Domaine Olivier Hillaire 2010, Cote du Rhone (France), $15.99

This blend of Grenache and Syrah is perfect for your Thanksgiving feast. The vineyard is located in the Southern Rhone Valley, right across the river from Chateauneuf-du-Pape!

A-Pear-ently, It's Autumn...

See what we did there? It's Autumn, and time for pears. Woody has six different varieties right now, and we want you to come in, select your favorites and take them home to ripen. (A perfectly ripe pear may only be so for a few hours; to find one ready to eat is an art.)

Here's a guide to the ones that we currently have in stock. (Word is, Woody is bringing in more.)

Asian Pear: best peeled and eaten raw, not good for cooking because of its grainy texture

Bartlett Pear: dessert pear, good for cooking, has a musky flavor

Bosc Pear: honey-sweet, good for baking, broiling and poaching

Comice Pear: juicy, not gritty, sweet and aromatic, a dessert pear

Seckel Pear: spicy flavor, granular texture

Starkrimson Pear: juicy with floral flavor, best with salads
