Eat Local Challenge.

Our friends at Local Matters work all year round to promote Ohio-grown foods and healthy eating throughout Central Ohio, but one week a year, they create a week-long pep rally for local foods and bring us Local Foods Week. This year, they've put forth a challenge to any and all to Make a Commitment to Local Foods. They've created a pledge card that suggests ten ways to to eat local this month. We at The Hills Market are thrilled to cheer along and help provide ways to fulfill the goals of the Eat Local Challenge.

We mark our Ohio products to make it simple to eat local every month of the year. Below are just a few of our favorites, as well as three ways to complete the pledge here at The Hills Market.

(Fall Family Fun Dinner with Jeni Britton!)

It's Ohio apple season! (You'll also find Ohio pumpkins, butternut squash and a bevy of other locally-grown produce items in our store.)

It won't be long until we start taking orders for fresh turkeys from Bowman & Landes
in New Carlisle, Ohio. Meanwhile, how about some turkey and noodles?

Pita Chips from Judy's Oasis in Toledo, Ohio are perfect for snacking!
Pick up some Hills Own Hummus and an Ohio Honeycrisp apple, and you'll
have a perfect locally-grown lunch!

Amish country granola from Millersburg, Ohio; skip the boxed stuff this week.
(Their Maple Grand-ola tastes heavenly with Snowville Creamery milk!)

How about some coffee with that breakfast? We've got several Ohio-roasted coffees
on our shelves, including some new flavors from Backroom Coffee Roasters. They do
their roasting in the back room of a bike shop on Lane Avenue. You can't get any
more local than that!

We've got dozens of Ohio-born pasta sauces to pair with Marietta, Ohio's own Rossi Pasta.

For an Ohio dinner with an Asian edge, marinate some Gerber Chicken in Little
Rosie's Filipino Dressing made in Athens, Ohio.

It's difficult not to get hit with some delicious Ohio products as you walk down our
dessert aisle. Try some sauces from Sweet Louise and Robert Rothschild Farms!

Don't feel like cooking? That's okay! You can always find our famous meatloaves
with Ohio Beef (from Ashland, Ohio) in the Chef's Case.

Ohio's dairy country provides us with countless delicious Ohio cheeses.
Host a tasting and discover the differences between some of our favorites.

Simply put: eating local is delicious!
